Adobe Photoshop Tutorial >> Blending

You wanna learn how to make blends the EASY way? Well, I don't blame you. This tutorial is for Adobe users only. (Sorry, PSP users =P). I'm using Photoshop CS2.

      1) Get two images to blend. I'm using
and .

2) Open Adobe and paste your images on TWO SEPERATE LAYERS. Meaning one image is Layer 1 and the second image is Layer 2. Here's a screenie: clickie.

3) Now. This is the diffcult part. Figure out how you want to blend your images. I like the way I have mine, so I wouldn't move them. The image on top is the one that will be edited for the blending. Look at the screen shots if you're confused.

4) Select the Rectangular Marquee Selection Tool. Screen shot: clickie. (If you don't see the rectangular selection tool, right click on the select tool currently being shown. You should see a list come down.)

5) At the top, you should see the "Feather" option. Change the number to something between 10-30. I'll choose 20. Screen shot: clickie

6) Now, with the Rectangular Marquee Selection tool selected (say that three times fast xD), select the section that is to be blended. The selection should have rounded corners. You get get an error message saying something about less than 50% being selected or something, select more or change the Feather number. Screen shot: clickie

7) Hit the Backspace key ONCE. If you want to blend it more, then hit it again. The image on the lower layer should be nicely blended with the top layer. Screen shot: clickie

8) Once you're happy with the blending, don't forget to deselect. You can do that by clicking somewhere off the canvas or right-clicking and selecting "Deselect".

9) After adding effects and such, here's my finished product :

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial. I want to give credit to Anime Share for helping me understand the Feather option. I try to make it as easy as possible to learn. Questions? Email us at staff@guardiandreams.com. Spam gets you blocked. =) ~Grand Guardian
